Practice news:

We have 3 new GP’s at Mornington Health Centre, these are:

  • Dr Alex Lyudin
  • Dr Jenny MacDiarmid
  • Dr Carol Atmore

Dr Alex Lyudin will be taking over from Dr John Greaves on his retirement in March, and Dr Carol Atmore will be taking care of Dr Jonathon Woolrych’s patients while he takes a sabbatical in the UK for 6 months this year.

Christmas is approaching fast

Christmas is approaching fast, and at MHC we want to make sure all our patients are prepared for the season.  We ask that if you are due a renewal of medication during the Christmas period, that you plan for this, and make an appointment before the Christmas period to ensure you do not run out of medication.  During the season we will have a number of GP’s on leave and really need to ensure that appointments are kept for unwell patients during the Christmas and New Year week.  MHC wishes all its patients a Merry Christmas and a Happy, safe and Health New Year.  We look forward to providing care to you all in 2015.

ED for Emergencies

Recently a study by the Southern PHO showed that a large number of patients who present to the Emergency Department, could actually be treated in Primary Care.

As MHC have a 24 hour service for registered patients, please consider if you need to be seen at Hospital, or if your issue could be dealt with at the centre.

We would never wish for finances to be a barrier to accessing MHC services, and for this reason we offer a number of convenient payment options where a small weekly or fortnightly amount will mean you won’t need to worry when you do need to be seen.

Also, the PHO have a voucher scheme available where an individual who is considering using ED purely because of finances, may be able to receive a reduction in the cost of a GP appointment through the issuing of a voucher.  Contact the Southern PHO for details.

Fighting heart disease

15 people each day lose the fight against heart disease.  Many of these deaths are preventable.  MHC offer free healthy heart checks to all eligible patients:

  • Maori, Pacific or Indo-Asian people: men from 35 years, women from 45 years
  • All ethnicities: men from 45 years and women from 55 years

If you are unsure when you should have a healthy heart check, ask your GP or nurse today.
