Pre-Employment Medicals
Pre employment medicals need to be carried out to ensure that
you have a base-line recording of employee's health status
at the time they were employed. It is then possible to properly
monitor the employee's health in relation to the hazards they
may be exposed to in your workplace. It also ensures that
you as their employer are not held responsible for any pre
existing medical condition that the employee may already have.
Appointments for pre employment medicals are arranged at a
time that is suitable for you. Appointments can usually be
made within 1-5 days of your request.
Prospective employees undergo a physical examination.
We then undertake the following health tests:
Lung function testing [spirometry]
Hearing testing [Audiometry]
Vision testing
Cardiovascular testing [ECG & Blood pressure]
The prospective employee is also asked to complete a general
health questionnaire.
If required we can undertake a full range of blood tests including
blood lead levels.
If required we can undertake monitored drug urine sampling
for ESR testing.
Health Monitoring Advice
The Health and Safety Employment Act 1992 states
that you must monitor your employee's health if they are exposed
to hazards at work that might affect their health. For example
regular hearing testing is expected for people working in
noisy environments even if you as an employer are providing
adequate hearing protection. Many other hazards require a
similar level of monitoring.
If you have hazards in your workplace we can advise on the
level of monitoring required.
Second Opinion Medical Assessments
When your employee has been certified as unfit
to work as the result of a workplace accident you have the
right to ask for a second opinion from a doctor that you nominate.
Mornington Health Center Ltd has Doctors prepared to undertake
these assessments and to offer appropriate advice and treatment
so that your employee is given the best chance of a quick
recovery utilizing appropriate alternative duties in your
workplace.
Vaccinations
We are able to offer annual flu vaccinations for
your staff to help reduce winter absenteeism. This can be
done on site during normal work hours thus reducing any downtime
for you and your employee's. If your employee requires vaccinations
for overseas travel our Travel Clinic Services team will advise
on all travel and work related vaccination requirements.
